Nielsen’s Local People Meter Sample in Los Angeles Receives MRC Checkmarks

Nielsen Media Research is pleased to report that the Media Rating Council (MRC) has given conditional accreditation to Nielsen’s Local People Meter (LPM) service in the Los Angeles market.   Effective immediately, the LA LPM ratings books will now carry the official MRC Checkmarks.

Conditional accreditation was granted by the MRC after reviewing Nielsen’s research plan to implement a number of ongoing quality initiatives.  The key initiatives include:

·         Addressing the representation of demographic sub-samples, particularly in a number of Hispanic categories.

·         Ensuring that language used in the home is accurately labeled and maintained.

·         Improving the follow-up procedures for homes that do not view TV within 14 days.

·         Maintaining an on-going program to stabilize and lower fault rates.

Nielsen Media Research will submit ongoing progress reports to the MRC on these issues throughout the year.

Nielsen Media Research launched LPM service in the LA market on July 8, 2004.  Today, this data collection system supports the currency for the marketplace.

Nielsen's national and local services are audited annually by an independent auditor and accredited by the Media Rating Council - a body of television and cable networks, station groups, advertisers, agencies and media buyers.  The MRC’s procedures insure the confidentiality of the accreditation process for all ratings services.
